Earlier tonight, the thrilling Round of 16 contests for the UEFA Euro 2024 concluded. After the initial round of knockouts, eight teams moved on to the quarterfinals.

There should be another exciting match between Europe's top in the quarterfinals. Heaton, the backup goalie for Manchester United, signs a one-year deal extension. The decisive match between Spain and the hosts Germany will open the final eight of the 2024 European Championship.

England, who were fortunate to advance past the final round, will face off against a confident Switzerland team. Portugal and France, two formidable nations, will square off in a rematch of the 2016 Euro final. Cristiano Ronaldo, who declared that this would be his final Euro, will compete. Lastly, the other game will pit Turkey against the Netherlands.

What happened in the final two Round of 16 matches today in the UEFA Euro 2024?

Turkey defeated Austria 2-1 on Tuesday to guarantee their place in the last eight of UEFA Euro 2024. Goalie Merih Demiral scored a goal in each half, while goalie Mert Gunok produced an incredible stoppage-time save. The man-of-the-match scored twice to set up a quarterfinal matchup with the Netherlands on Saturday in Berlin.

Michael Gregoritsch gave Austria a halftime lead, and Gunok's incredible one-handed save denied them a chance late in the game when Christoph Baumgartner's header was stopped. This save has also been touted as one of the saves of the tournament by many former legends and pundits.

The Netherlands defeated Romania with the help of substitute Donyell Malen, who scored twice, and Cody Gakpo, who scored the third goal of the tournament of Euro 2024, to advance to the tournament's quarterfinals for the very first time in sixteen years.

Midway into the first half, Liverpool winger Gakpo opened the score with a fantastic finish. He cut inside and drove the ball towards the bottom corner. Romania, cheered on by their boisterous and colorful supporters, put early pressure on the Netherlands, who responded with a much-improved performance.
