Liverpool had a decent season as the Reds failed to win any silverware since the departure announcement of Jurgen Klopp. The Reds were at the top of the table for the majority of the season but they failed to keep up the momentum till the end of the season. Arne Slot has been the new coach for the side and will be looking to take on the glory that Klopp left with.

They targeted Newcastle Unite winger Anthony Gordon for the upcoming season. Last season, the winger scored 11 goals and assisted 10 times in the Premier League for Newcastle. Looking at his form, Gareth Southgate called him up to the England squad for UEFA Euro 2024. But the Reds have said no to the Magpies for £100million.

The club admires Gordon as a player but has no imminent plans to bolster their squad's attacking department. They are well-stocked on the left flank with Darwin Nunez, Diogo Jota, and Luis Diaz. It would have been a problem to give Gordon game time. It has also been made clear to Newcastle that the Reds have no intention of selling Quansah, a player that new manager Slot regards highly as a member of his senior team.

Liverpool is searching for a new center-back

Riccardo Calafiori became the preferred target when the Reds were first looking for a new center-back last summer. Liverpool is following Leny Yoro from Lille, though this chase is deemed separate from the others. They have reportedly scouted him before UEFA Euro 2024, so they were well aware of his potential. Newcastle is planning free transfers for two Premier League center-backs.

According to Fabrizio Romano, the Magpies are already planning for next season, with one of their main targets being Bournemouth captain Lloyd Kelly. The Toon are also said to be interested in acquiring Fulham star Tosin Adarabioyo, who is in the final few weeks of his deal. Both players appear unlikely to sign new contracts with their current clubs, however the Cottagers would be willing to make Adarabioyo their highest-paid player.
