In today's Premier League fixture, both Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur are facing potential player absences due to injuries. United will host Spurs at Old Trafford as they will strive to get back to their winning form after two consecutive draws in all competitions, including their recent match against FC Twente in the Europa League.
Last week, United were held to a goalless draw with Crystal Palace, leaving the Reds in 11th place in the Premier League table with seven points from their first five matches. A victory over Spurs would propel United to eighth place, just three points adrift of the top four spots.
United's Tale of Injuries
Throughout the campaign, United is grappled with injury concerns, with Leny Yoro and Victor Lindelof yet to make an appearance due to their respective injuries.
Yoro sustained a fractured metatarsal during pre-season and is expected to be out until November. On the other hand, Lindelof was dealing with a toe injury this season but has resumed training and could make a comeback against Tottenham.
Additionally, Tyrell Malacia is edging closer to rejoining the matchday squad after being sidelined since May 2023 due to a knee injury. His long-awaited return to action could happen next month.
Luke Shaw is currently out for United due to a calf injury sustained during pre-season. United is hopeful for his return after the October international break.
Tottenham too has fair share of Injury Concerns
As for Tottenham, there are concerns about club captain Heung-Min Son's fitness. He was taken off during Spurs' Europa League victory over Qarabag and remains a doubt for the upcoming match against United.
Tottenham Hotspur will also miss the services of Richarlison and Wilson Odobert in their Fixture against the Red Devils. Richarlison is out with an injury he sustained last summer, and Odobert pulled his hamstring, leading him to miss two fixtures earlier this season.
