The injury that Leny Yoro sustained during the preseason has already dealt an enormous setback to Manchester United's plans for the forthcoming campaign. However, it's said that the £52 million center back's absence has hindered attempts to strengthen the position further as Bayern Munich holds firm on Matthijs de Ligt.

After breaking his foot during United's 2-1 friendly loss to Arsenal last month, Yoro will likely miss three months of action. The Athletic, however, claims that in order to preserve their negotiating position for other targets, efforts were made to conceal the seriousness of Yoro's injuries. After talking with Bayern, United was apparently keen to keep the Frenchman's injury timeline a secret.

Matthijs de Ligt as well as Noussair Mazraoui are nearing signings to Manchester United. Bayern Munich has accepted United's offer for De Ligt, which could reach £42 million. Last month, United and Bayern Munich verbally agreed on personal terms. De Ligt is expensive and is spread out over three years.

Mazraoui, 26, a right defender for Bayern, is also expected to sign for about £17 million. Earlier in the summer, United designated the Morocco international to take Aaron Wan-Bissaka's spot. At Ajax, De Ligt worked well with Erik ten Hag, the manager of Manchester United. Meanwhile,  Mazraoui was a player for the Dutchman while playing for the Amsterdam team.

Following the passing of Mino Raiola in 2022, Rafaela Pimenta assumed representation for both players. Last year, Pimenta was hosted by United in their Carrington training facility. With De Ligt and Mazraoui, Ten Hag's United additions would have six players with Ajax experience. Of his twenty-one signings, eleven were born or competed in the Netherlands.

Mazraoui has the ability to play both right and left back. Luke Shaw and Tyrell Malacia, United's two senior left backs, are both sidelined with injuries right now. As he nears a transfer to West Ham United, Wan-Bissaka, 25, may receive a £5.6 million payout from United.
