Juan Cabal, the defender for Juventus, is a target for Manchester United to sign in order to solve the left-back shortage at the club. Due to injuries to Tyrell Malacia and Luke Shaw, Erik ten Hag has since become without a reliable left-back option. In 2023–2024, Malacia did not play in the league at all, whereas Shaw appeared in just 12 games.

Due to the persistent issues with the pair's fitness, United is evaluating potential transfer targets and has Cabal on its radar. Ten Hag reportedly "ordered" Manchester United to submit a proposal for Cabal, who is estimated to be worth £25.4 million, according to Spanish publication El Nacional. Following his summer transfer from Hellas Verona, a Serie A opponent, to Juventus, the Colombian has only made an immediate impression.

The 23-year-old ranks among the top six percent among all full-backs in terms of clearances as well as interceptions per ninety, and he stands in the 99th percentile among full-backs in the top five leagues in Europe for aerial duels won each game over the past 12 months. Due to his impressive start to the season, the 6' 1" defender Cabal has won all seven of his aerial duels (7/7) in the Serie A season's first games.

Manchester United’s crazy summer transfer window with INEOS

This summer, Manchester United spent almost £180 million (€214 million / $236.6 million) on new deals, with minority shareholder Sir Jim Ratcliffe spearheading the effort to bring the team back to its previous glory. They made some quirky business decisions in terms of payment to the other clubs being split through instalments.

They added right-back Noussair Mazraoui from the German powerhouses, and they hauled in centre-backs Leny Yoro and Matthijs de Ligt from Lille and Bayern Munich, respectively, to bolster their defence. On August 30, transfer deadline day, Manuel Ugarte, a defensive midfielder, joined the Red Devils from Paris Saint-Germain, while Joshua Zirkzee, a striker, transferred from Bologna.
