Bayern Munich defeated 10-man Paris Saint-Germain 1-0 in the Champions League on Tuesday thanks to a goal from Kim Min-jae in the first half, putting the French team in danger of losing before the knockout round. While PSG had Ousmane Dembele sent off during their loss, which still keeps them outside of the qualification places for the next round, Kim headed in on 38 minutes to give Bayern their third victory in five Champions League games this season.

During Tuesday's Champions League match, supporters of Bayern Munich demonstrated against Nasser Al-Khelaifi, the president of Paris Saint-Germain. The followers opposed the Qatari billionaire by holding up several placards. Meanwhile, the match between Bayern Munich and PSG had a special guest as India star Tennis player Sania Mirza attended the match with her son Izhaan.

PSG's dreams of finishing in the top eight and avoiding the playoffs were all but dashed when the South Korean's performance was sufficient to decide the replay of the 2020 Champions League final, which Bayern won by an identical score. With 30 minutes left, Ousmane Dembele received a second yellow card for an excessive challenge, and Bayern was able to effectively close off the game.

With three games left, the French champions, who are in 26th place, two outside the playoff spots, are not certain to even make it to the knockout stages. In January, PSG will host Manchester City in addition to having to make difficult road journeys to Stuttgart and Red Bull Salzburg.

After the victory, which increased Bayern's streak of clean sheets to seven games in all competitions, their prospects of finishing in the top eight appear brighter. With three games left, Bayern will play relative European minnows Shakhtar Donetsk, Feyenoord, and Slovan Bratislava. Currently, they are in 11th place. Despite being in desperate need of points in Europe, both teams entered the match undefeated and six points ahead in their respective domestic divisions.
