According to reports, Celtic may try to sign Manchester United left-back Tyrell Malacia during the January transfer window in an attempt to acquire a forgotten Premier League star. Malacia, who is trying to recover from a long-term injury under Ruben Amorim, has only made seven appearances for the Red Devils this season.
He appears to be unfavorable to the Portuguese manager based on the fact that only four of those were starts, which may lead Celtic to make a last-minute loan move for his skills.
Malacia may be on a list of Celtic loan options if they are unable to sign Kieran Tierney before the transfer deadline, according to the Daily Mail report.
The Scottish Premiership winners and their former wonderkid have reached an agreement on a pre-contract, which will see him join Brendan Rodgers' team in the summer and guarantee an emotional homecoming to Glasgow's east end. However, a deal for Malacia would be imminent if they are unable to work out an agreement with Arsenal to bring him to Scotland six months sooner.
The backup left-back at the moment After temporarily joining the Hoops in the summer, Alex Valle is expected to join Serie A team Como on loan. Rodgers will try to get Tierney a loan deal, but Mikel Arteta may need Tierney at the Emirates Stadium until the end of the season due to Oleksandr Zinchenko's possible sale to Atletico Madrid.
Real Betis keen to sign Tyrell Malacia
Additionally, if Rodgers is unable to sign their former academy star, Malacia may see a late transfer to Parkhead develop, as Greg Taylor is now Celtic's sole recognized left-back. After Patrick Dorgu joins, Malacia, who is rumored to be earning 75,000 euros per week, will be United's third-choice left wing-back.
When he is completely recovered, Luke Shaw will be his backup; in the meanwhile, the organization is accepting proposals for the 25-year-old. Since they borrowed Antony from the Red Devils earlier in the transfer window, Real Betis is reportedly also keen to rope in Malacia, who just recovered from a significant knee injury.
