Luka Modric becomes new co-owner
Swansea City is owned by American investors Andy Coleman, Brett Cravatt, and Jason Cohen. The team currently sits 12th in the Championship, having experienced a resurgence under caretaker head coach Alan Sheehan.
“Swansea City is delighted to announce that Ballon d’Or winner Luka Modrić has joined the club as an investor and co-owner. Luka’s investment in the club is an endorsement of the club’s ambition and vision. He will play a key role in helping the club garner global attention and progress both on and off the pitch.” Swansea announced.
Luka Modric revealed the reasons for joining Swansea City. He complimented the club's unique identity and passionate fanbase.
“Swansea has a strong identity, an incredible fanbase, and the ambition to compete at the highest level. Playing at the highest level, I believe I can provide my experience to the club. My goal is to support the club’s growth in a positive way and to help to build an exciting future.” Modric said.
Modric’s investment is not considered an obstacle to the continuation of his playing career. He aspires to captain Croatia in the 2026 FIFA World Cup and has expressed his desire to remain at Real Madrid. However, a change in management could mark the end of his tenure at a club where he has achieved remarkable success, winning six Champions Leagues and four La Liga titles since joining from Tottenham in 2012.
