As per the reports of Diario AS, there are indications that the former Ballon d'Or winner may not receive a new contract, and it appears less likely that a new deal will be finalized for the 39-year-old.

Modric's contract is set to expire after this season. He has expressed a desire to retire as a Madrid player and is aiming to secure at least one more year with the club. It is reported that clubs in Qatar are keeping a close eye on Modric's contract situation.

The 39-year-old Croatian skipper has an unreal longevity. Even at this age, he continues to be one of the best midfielders for the Galacticos in the Spanish top flight. He also became the oldest player to make an appearance and score a goal for the club.

Luka Modric joined Real Madrid in 2012. He has since made 388 appearances for the Galacticos across club competitions. He has also scored 30 goals for the club. He also has 186 caps for Croatia, in which he has netted 27 goals.

If it does turn out to be his last outing with the Galacticos, Modric will be looking to go out on a high with silverware this season. Real Madrid is still in contention to win a treble this season, being active in all club competitions.
