Real Madrid are in the final of the UEFA Champions League and set to face Borussia Dortmund at the Wembley Stadium on 1st June. The Los Blancos yet again proved to be one of the finest sides, when the odds were against them. Carlo Ancelotti's side despite having injuries throughout the season, outperformed their every opponent and became the La Liga champions for the 36th time. They will be looking for a double trophy by winning their 15th UCL tournament.

However ahead of the final, as per the various reports, there is a problem for the side as goalkeeper Andriy Lunin will be missing the final, as the Ukranian goalkeeper will not travel to London for the ultimate game after picking up after getting the flu this week. The keeper missed two days without being able to train with the rest of the squad and he also did not feature a minute in the last La Liga match of the season against Real Betis on Saturday.

He has been the first choice in the 2023/24 season chosen over Kepa Arrizabalaga when Thibaut Courtois was out injured. He was a winner in some games for the Spanish Giants and made 10 saves and 2 penalties in a shootout win against Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium. He would have been the first choice for Ancelotti in the final game.

Will Lunin feature in the final squad?

Lunin trained alone on Wednesday due to medical issues, did not want to run the risk of the virus spreading, and so kept the 25-year-old footballer away from his teammates, ahead of their trip to London on Thursday. The Italian manager has yet to announce his squad for the final, but when asked about who will start in the last game of the season, the manager said has not yet decided, as he said the decision will be taken before the game.

It will be interesting to watch if the 64-year-old manager names him in the squad as well. On the other hand, Courtois made just four appearances since completing his recovery showing that he has quickly returned to his best form, and the Belgian might be the favourite to play in the final as the Ukraine shot-stopper is out with medical issues.
