Courtois has been brilliant for the Spanish Giants as he was a crucial member of the Madrid side that won the UCL against Liverpool in the 2021/22 season.

Real Madrid will be facing Bayern Munich in the semi-final of the UEFA Champions League 1st leg at the Allianz Arena. Madrid have been one of the most successful side in the UCL as they have defeated the favourites Manchester City in the quarter-finals in the penalty shoot-out. The Los Blancos after beating City are the current favourites to win the tournament, however the side have missed some of their important players for most of the season. 

Thibaut Courtois has been the most important one that thay have missed in the big Belgian goalkeeper for the most of the season, due to an a knee ligament injury earlier. However he has been named in the squad for the semi-final although Andriy Lunin will start the game ahead of the Belgian shot-stopper. As per national team coach Domenico Tedesco's statement on Tuesday, the 31-year-old will miss the Euro 2024 in Germany

Courtois has been brilliant for the Spanish Giants as he was a crucial member of the Madrid side that won the UCL against Liverpool in the 2021/22 season, and was named the Man of the Match for his excellent display of shot-stopping in the final of the tournament. He had an operation in March and since then he has not returned to action and has been rehabbing. 

Courtois set to return on Saturday?

In December 2023, he revealed that he would be withdrawing from the European Championship in Germany due to a left knee injury. Real coach Carlo Ancelotti has stated that he expects to get Courtois back for Saturday's league game against Cadiz ahead of the Champions League second leg. That can be a big boost for Los Blancos ahead of end of the season. 

The goalkeeper has grudge over head coach with Tedesco since June 2023, after being  not appointed captain following an injury to Kevin De Bruyne as the coach provided the arm band to Romelu Lukaku. Tedesco told German media, "On this topic, everything has already been said. I don’t want a tit-for-tat situation. We are focusing on players who are in good shape."
