UEFA Euro 2024: Thibaut Courtois misses out as Belgium announce 25-man squad

The UEFA Euro 2024 is just weeks away as the nations are building up their side for the upcoming mega tournament, which is scheduled to take place in Germany. Italy who was the champions of the last time of the tournament beat England at Wembley in the penalty shootout. The club season has almost come to an end and the footballers have been on a short break before they eventually join their respective nations for the upcoming marquee tournament. 

Ahead of the tournament, Belgium have announced their squad for the Euro. Head coach Domenico Tedesco has left out Thibaut Courtois, as the manager has some issues with the Real Madrid goalkeeper. The latter was upset with the fact that he was not named as the captain, and he made himself unavailable for the tournament, despite being fully fit. 

After their golden generation went past as they could not win any major trophy, Belgium will travel to Germany expecting to leave a mark in a new era under Tedesco. They will try to improve on their disappointing World Cup performance in Qatar, where they were eliminated from an easy group that contained Croatia, Morocco, and Canada.

In the previous edition when they were called as the favourites to win the tournament, however, they lost in the quarter-finals against the reigning champions. They will like to turn their fortunes in Germany by winning the silverware. Their journey begins in Group E alongside Slovakia, Ukraine, and Romania. The group stage will be an easy one as they will be the favourites to top the group.
