Real Betis has announced that Antony is eager to extend his stay for another year, following an impressive performance during his loan from Manchester United in La Liga.

The Brazilian winger has swiftly adjusted to the Spanish league since joining on loan in January, with two goals and two assists in his first five league matches. Notably, he played a key role in Betis’ 2-1 triumph over Real Madrid recently, showing his renewed confidence and ability to perform at a high level.

Antony is set to return to Old Trafford at the end of the season; however, speculations about potentially extending his stay in Spain are already in progress. Ramon Alarcon, the CEO of Betis, shared in an interview with Canal Sur’s El Pelotazo that the winger has shown a keen interest in continuing his journey at the club.

Antony wants to extend his time at Betis

In February, Antony expressed his enjoyment of life at Betis, mentioning that he wakes up every day with a smile since making the move from Manchester to Spain.

"The most important thing is that I have found myself again, I am happy to be enjoying myself every day. Things go well when we are well, happy, and content. In four games, I scored three goals and gave an assist," Antony said.

Real Betis CEO has confirmed that he expressed a strong desire to stay another year with the club. He emphasized that Antony is thriving in the environment and was impressed with the support and facilities provided to him for a smooth transition to the city upon his arrival.

"The other day, Antony told me that he wanted to stay another year, the player is very comfortable here and was surprised by the facilities we gave him to settle in the city as soon as he arrived," CEO said.

Since making the move to Manchester United from Ajax in 2022 for £85 million, Antony has faced difficulties in replicating the high-level performance that initially made him a promising talent. In his 96 appearances for United across all competitions, he managed to only net 12 goals and five assists, with just five goals in the Premier League.

Real Betis are open to the idea of extending Antony's stay at the club. However, the decision is dependent on the collective stance of both Real Betis and Manchester United. If Real Betis presents a lucrative offer to Manchester United by the next transfer window, there are chances for Antony to become a permanent stay at Betis.
