Paul Pogba is set for a surprise reunion with Mason Greenwood at Marseille, as former Manchester United star Patrice Evra has pledged to make a call. The World Cup winner's four-year suspension from football-related activity has been reduced to 18 months after an appeal to the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS). Consequently, the French midfielder will be eligible to return to professional football in March 2025.

It is widely speculated that Pogba's contract with Serie A giants Juventus will be terminated, making him a free agent despite being under contract until 2026.

Evra to assist in Pogba's return to French League

While there have been discussions about Pogba potentially joining Lionel Messi in MLS, his fellow countryman Evra strongly advocates for Pogba to return to his homeland and join Marseille, linking up with ex-United winger Greenwood. Evra is confident that Pogba will not be seen in Juventus colors and has expressed his intention to contact Medhi Benatia to facilitate the move, emphasizing that the doors are open for Pogba's return to France.

Evra has spent time with United, Juve, and Marseille in his playing career and is determined to ensure the best for Pogba. It's uncertain what response he will get from Benatia, who is now the sporting director at Stade Velodrome, but there is still plenty for Pogba to offer if he can reignite his lost spark.

Why Juventus want to part ways with Pogba?

Pogba was banned for four years due to a failed post-match doping test after a game against Udinese in August 2023. However, the ban was successfully reduced to 18 months last week after a successful appeal to the European Court of Arbitration for Sport.

Both Juventus and Pogba are contemplating a mutual agreement to terminate the deal. Pogba is currently one of Juve’s highest earners, with a reported salary of around €8m plus significant bonuses. Additionally, there is stiff competition for places in attacking midfield in Thiago Motta’s Juventus project.
