The VAR determined that Michele Di Gregorio, the goalkeeper for Juventus, should be sent off when Leipzig forward Openda attempted to run around him and made the tiniest touch with the ball using his hand. The fans inside the stadium were furious as to how the slightest unintentional touch.

Kenan Yildiz came off for Mattia Perin, whilst Douglas Luiz was brought on for Nicolò Savona. Douglas Luiz's strategy wasn't quite convincing, though, as he committed another handball a few moments after coming on to force a penalty kick. The substitute goalkeeper dived the wrong way from the penalty as Benjamin Sesko scored his second goal of the game.

Vlahovic curled a spectacular goal from twenty yards out, just under the crossbar. In this encounter, Dusan Vlahovic met Andrea Cambiaso's cross towards the near post, leaving the goalkeeper with little chance. It was another excellent finish. Francisco Conceicao dribbled wonderfully, weaving around two players before sliding the ball within the far post.

Michele de Gregorio - the new Juventus goalkeeper

In the end, Juventus and AC Monza came to an agreement that allowed goalkeeper Michele Di Gregorio to join the team in time for the upcoming campaign. The 26-year-old had been the subject of lengthy negotiations, during which the Bianconeri received interest from Liverpool.

Juventus declared via a statement on their official website that they had finalized an agreement whereby they will essentially pay €18 million ($19.49 million) to Monza. Di Gregorio signed with a team that had produced several legendary goalkeepers, including Gianpiero Combi as well as Stefano Tacconi, as well as Dino Zoff, Angelo Peruzzi, and the legendary Gianluigi Buffon.

Despite joining the Nerazzurri at the age of six, Michele Di Gregorio, a product of Inter Milan's youth system, never participated in an official game for the team. He was a mainstay when the team won the Italian under-19 national championship in 2016–17, however he was then traded to the Serie C team Renate.
