Olivia Smith became the most expensive player in the history of Women's Football, following her move from Liverpool to Arsenal for the next four seasons. The Canadian was traded for a sum of whopping $1.34 million, One Million Pounds, an amount never seen before in Women's Football. It surpassed the previous record, which belonged to Chelsea's Naomi Girma from the San Diego Wave for $1.1 million, 900000 Pounds.

Before Naomi, the record was held by Bay FC's Rachael Kundananji, who moved from Real Madrid CFF for $788,000 in 2024. Smith came to the fore with her consistent performances ever since she came as a finished product from the United States College system. In 2023, Smith joined Portugal's Sporting Clube and scored 16 goals in 28 matches.

In 2024, she bagged a contract with Liverpool and scored nine goals for them in 25 matches. In 2019, at the age of 15, she became the youngest Canadian to make her international debut. After signing the contract with Arsenal, Smith claimed it to be her dream to compete for the biggest titles in England and other parts of Europe.

"It’s my dream to compete for the biggest titles here in England and in Europe, and I’m excited to get started and contribute to doing that here with Arsenal," Smith said, as she hoped for a new beginning in her career.

He believed she to make a big contribution and claimed to be impressed with her character and mentality. The Arsenal Head Coach praised the way Olivia performed in the European leagues at a young age.
