Liverpool star Diogo Jota and his brother Andre Silva suffered an unfortunate car accident and passed away. The incident took place on Thursday morning at 1:30 AM in Zamora, North-Western Spain. The Traffic Civil Guard, the fire brigade, and the Emergency Coordination Centre (CCU) were sent to the spot, but could not save the lives of the brothers.
The Primary Care Medical Staff (MAP) and the Medical Emergency Unit (UME) confirmed their death, claiming the incident was reported around 1:52 AM, about 22 minutes after it took place. Some of the witnesses, who called 112, claimed that a tyre had burst from the car, which could have potentially caused the accident.

It is tragic news for Porto's Rute Cardoso, the longtime partner of the Liverpool star, who had married her just 11 days before the accident and even had three children. The Portuguese FA confirmed the incident through their statement and expressed their disappointment. Gary Neville, Piers Morgan, Fabrizio Romano, and others reported the news.

Portuguese FA's statement on Diogo Jota and Andre Silva's car accident
"The Portuguese Football Federation and all of Portuguese football are utterly devastated by the deaths of Diogo Jota and his brother André Silva this morning in Spain. Far beyond being an exceptional player, with nearly 50 caps for the National Team, Diogo Jota was an extraordinary person, respected by all teammates and opponents, someone with a contagious joy and a reference within his own community.
"On my behalf, and on behalf of the Portuguese Football Federation, I express our deepest condolences to the family and friends of Diogo and André Silva, as well as to Liverpool FC and FC Penafiel, the clubs where the players, respectively, performed.
"The Portuguese Football Federation has already requested UEFA to observe a minute of silence this Thursday before our National Team’s match against Spain in the Women’s European Championship. We have lost two champions. The passing of Diogo and André Silva represents irreparable losses for Portuguese Football, and we will do everything to honor their legacy daily," Portuguese FA chaimed in their statement.
