Victor Boniface leads Bayer Leverkusen to victory

Bayer Leverkusen defeated Eintracht Frankfurt 2-1 inside their stadium thanks to a goal from Victor Boniface in the 72nd minute, while RB Leipzig defeated Mainz 2-0 to take the lead. Frankfurt took a 1-0 lead thanks to Omar Marmoush.

But the champions' Robert Andrich equalized halfway through the first half, and Boniface finished the comeback during the second half. After a lengthy VAR review, Leverkusen had an early opportunity when Amine Adli was sent down in the box, bringing Boniface to the spot.

Kevin Trapp, the goalie for Frankfurt, ate up the Nigerian's shot because it was too soft and central.  Five minutes afterwards, the referee was shown on the video screen once more, this time determining that Frankfurt had a penalty after Andrich had touched Marmoush's foot lightly.

In the 25th minute, Andrich made up for his mistake by skillfully combining with Adli as well as Martin Terrier to fly through to the penalty box for an incredible one-touch goal. In the last 20 minutes, Boniface would also make amends by heading in a diverted cross from Florian Wirtz, a substitute, to put Bayer Leverkusen ahead and set them up for victory.
