This summer transfer window, Liverpool was the only Primer League club who haven’t signed any player till now. The wait is finally over for Liverpool fans as the transfer window is about to get close in three weeks Liverpool is interested in signing the midfielder which will be their first new signing of the season.

According to reports, Liverpool is eager to sign two players from Crystal Palace. Since Jurgen Klopp has left Liverpool, a new era has started under Arne Slot who was announced as new manager during the break. Klopp was keen to leave the club with a strong team that would position them for future success is one of the explanations for the dearth of signings.

However, Slot's team has been assessed by Liverpool executives Michael Edwards and Richard Hughes, who have determined which positions might use an elite addition. David Ornstein claims that Liverpool is excited to welcome a new No 6 and get their summer underway. Ornstein did not identify the player in question, but the Reds have a top target in mind.

According to Empire of the Klop David Ornstein said, “Despite Slot praising Gravenberch’s performance in the friendly against Manchester United, Liverpool have now identified a target in that position. It is worth keeping an eye on that situation this week, with Liverpool pursuing a specialist No 6 from outside of the Premier League. They have turned down bids for Endo this summer, in part because of the tricky market in that position, but are now moving ahead with a signing for that role.”

Liverpool will look far and wide for top transfer targets

He is characterized as a 'specialist' No. 6 who plays outside of the Premier League. However, given Slot's Dutch ties, it would not be surprising if Liverpool signed a deep-lying midfielder from the Eredivisie. However, Slot understands that Liverpool will look far and wide for top transfer targets, not only in the Netherlands.

It would be interesting to see what happens to current defensive midfielder Wataru Endo if a new player replaces him in the coming weeks. Liverpool previously rejected Marseille's 14 million euros bid for Endo. The 31-year-old is still attracting interest from Germany and might be traded if a top-tier player joins Liverpool as his replacement.
