The Egyptian king Mohamed Salah's seven goals on December 26 are the most goals any player in the top division has ever contributed. From his six appearances throughout the joyous occasion, Salah has three goals and four assists. He used to share the record with Raheem Sterling and Heung-min Son, but he now has the record to his name. Additionally, he also joined an elite group after scoring 100 goals at Anfield in the Premier League with his most recent goal on Boxing Day.

The goal from the Foxes early in the match startled Liverpool at Anfield. Following a poor stop by Trent Alexander Arnold, Jordan Ayew of Ghana scored inside the area to give Leicester City a 1-0 lead. An incredible equalizer from Cody Gakpo shortly before halftime left Liverpool and Leicester on even terms at Anfield on the half-time whistle.

After dominating the first few minutes, the Reds were taken aback by an unexpected goal from Jordan Ayew in the sixth minute. As halftime approached, the Dutch winger Cody Gakpo finally made their possession advantage clear. In the 49th minute, Alexis Mac Allister's cut-back (his second assist of the evening) found the England midfielder inside the six-yard box, and Curtis Jones scored from close range with a beautiful touch to eventually give Liverpool the lead.

Leicester fell into the relegation zone

Liverpool overcame a deficit after beating the struggling Leicester City and gained a seven-point lead in the Premier League, solidifying their hold on the top spot. Jordan Ayew's nifty goal in the sixth minute gave Leicester the lead, shocking Anfield after they had dropped five of their previous seven games. Curtis Jones, who made his 100th Premier League game, turned in Alexis Mac Allister's cross to give the home team a lead, within just the fourth minute into the second half.

After Wolves defeated Manchester United earlier in the day, Leicester fell into the relegation zone. Patson Daka squandered a great chance to equalize when he miskicked in front of goal, but Mohamed Salah sealed the victory by sweeping in the third goal, his 19th of the year.
