Spain's Rodri, the 2024 Ballon d'Or winner, has shared that he did not receive any congratulatory message from Lionel Messi or Cristiano Ronaldo after winning the Golden Ball. The talented midfielder from Manchester City secured the award, over Real Madrid's Vinicius Jr. and Jude Bellingham.

In a recent interview with Diario AS, the Spaniard shared his thoughts on not receiving any congratulatory message from former winners of the award following his victory. He acknowledged that Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi, who have collectively won 13 Ballon d'Or awards in the last 16 editions, are the standout figures in the award's history. "Messages from previous Ballon d'Or winners? Let me check... There are none from Messi, Cristiano, Modrić or Benzema" Rodri said.

In a recent interview, Rodri chose between Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi. The winner of the 2024 Ballon d'Or has now joined the ranks of the legendary duo as only the third player in nearly two decades to claim this prestigious prize.

"When I look at the amazing list of Ballon d'Or winners, I have to talk about Messi. He's won eight times and honestly, I don't know if he even realizes it. He's the best player in history," Rodri said.

The Spaniard is currently undergoing recovery treatment for his ACL injury, which he sustained in September playing against Arsenal. He is set to miss the entire season of Premier League 2024-25 and will only return to the pitch next season.

Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi, now 39 and 37 years old respectively, are undeniably in the twilight of their storied careers. However, the debates over who is the superior player are sure to run long after they retire. Both legends continue to command the unwavering loyalty of millions of fans around the globe.
