Despite speculation that Sporting CP manager Ruben Amorim could replace Pep Guardiola at Manchester City, Manchester United has apparently made inquiries about him. Journalist Florian Plettenberg claims that if Erik ten Hag is fired from United, Sporting manager Amorim will be considered as a potential replacement.

He continues by saying that although the Red Devils have made several moves for the 39-year-old, they are currently staying with Ten Hag. Guardiola's contract expires next summer, thus City is also keeping an eye on Amorim's status.

Plettenberg continues Amorim has a release clause in his contract, which expires in 2026, but he has no plans to quit the Portuguese team this season. Both Manchester clubs appear to be monitoring the young manager's condition.

Amorim, who has been in charge of Sporting since March 2020, was connected to the Liverpool position a few months ago before Arne Slot took over as manager at Anfield from Jurgen Klopp. He has led the team to two Primeira Liga as well as two Taca da Liga titles during that time, amassing a 71.49 percent winning record.

Apart from the rumors surrounding his next steps, Amorim's Sporting team, who currently lead the Portuguese top division with an undefeated record, will play in the UEFA Champions League again on Tuesday night when they go to Sturm Graz.

Which Manchester club will secure the services of Ruben Amorim?

In the coming months, both Manchester teams may be vying for Ruben Amorim's services, according to Todo Fichajes. The Portuguese tactician is undoubtedly a compelling contender for prestigious positions like these.

Given that Hugo Viana will be joining Manchester City as sporting director for the upcoming campaign, it's possible that he will be eager to collaborate with Ruben Amorim once more, which might provide Manchester City an advantage in this contest. However, Pep Guardiola may still decide to remain at Manchester City, and ManchesterUnited may switch managers sooner rather than later.
