Spurs defeated Manchester City during the fourth round in a thrilling cup tie.

Following Erik ten Hag's unexpected departure, Manchester United responded forcefully by defeating Leicester City 5-2 in the Carabao Cup. With four goals inside the first 38 minutes, United established control of the match early on and displayed the kind of cutting assault that the Dutch manager frequently lacks.

As interim manager, former United striker Ruud van Nistelrooy took charge and led United to this thrilling victory. Leading the assault was Casemiro, a Brazilian midfielder for United who scored twice during the first half, notably a spectacular long-range effort from 30 meters out that struck the top corner. Bruno Fernandes and Alejandro Garnacho also helped start the scoring run, with Fernandes scoring a second goal during the second half to give United their fifth goal.

Manchester City suffer major injuries during Spurs defeat

Timo Werner and Pape Sarr scored early goals as Tottenham Hotspur defeated Premier League leaders Manchester City 2-1 in a tight match. Tottenham held on thanks to City's injury problems, even though Matheus Nunes of City scored just before halftime.

In addition to the absence of key players Rodri, Kevin De Bruyne, Kyle Walker, Jeremy Doku, and Jack Grealish, City also lost Manuel Akanji and Savinho that evening; the latter was in tears as he was carried off on a stretcher due to an ankle injury in the 63rd minute.
