Since Rodri's ACL injury against Arsenal in September, Manchester City has faced problems in their midfield. Pep Guardiola has been actively looking for a solution to this gap throughout the season. However, the recent addition of Nico from FC Porto on deadline day seems to have made a positive impact.
Nico’s impressive performance against Newcastle United showed his ability to step into Rodri’s role effectively. With his presence in midfield, Manchester City can afford to be patient with Rodri's recovery and allow him the time he needs to regain full fitness. Rodri remains optimistic about his rehabilitation, and the club is wise to continue taking a careful approach to his return. This strategy not only safeguards Rodri's long-term health but also strengthens the team's overall performance.
Ballon d'Or winner provided insights about his rehab
In an interview on mancity.com, Rodri confidently stated that he is making positive strides in his recovery from the ACL injury sustained in September.
“I’m feeling very good. In my head, everything is fine. I don’t feel unstable in the knee. I need to get the strength in the quads and everything. That’s the most important thing. One thing is what you think and another is what the body does, so you have to make sure that they connect again. I’m feeling good. In this kind of moment, I try to be positive.” Rodri said.
He is steadily progressing towards full fitness. With Nico having established himself within Pep Guardiola's squad, there is no reason to rush Rodri's return from injury.
A careful and measured approach should be taken regarding Rodri’s return. Rushing his recovery may not prove to be beneficial, especially with Nico contributing effectively to City’s midfield, which had been lacking in certain areas throughout the season. It appears that Rodri’s recovery will proceed in this manner.
