Gonzalez paid 8.5 million euros to join Porto from FC Barcelona in 2023. To prepare for his impending transfer to City, where he would sign a deal through 2029, the player did not play in Porto's most recent encounter against Rio Ave after establishing himself under Sergio Conceicao's directives.

FC Barcelona, which kept 40% of a potential sale when it transferred Nico Gonzalez to Porto, is happy about the transfer. The Blaugrana club was supposed to get 20.64 million euros because of this condition, however, the transfer agreement had a clause that significantly changed the operation's financial outcome. Officially, Porto declared that it had used the provision that permitted it to buy back 20% of Barcelona's stake in the deal.

By paying Barcelona 3 million euros to exercise this option, the Portuguese club drastically cut down on the amount the Catalan team would get. Instead of the 24 million that was originally anticipated, Barcelona will receive 9 million for the remaining proportion plus 3 million from the repurchase, for a total of 12 million euros.

So, Nico's move to Manchester City will bring in a total of 13.32 million euros for Barcelona. The total amount Barcelona will earn from the two deals is 21.82 million euros, which includes the 8.5 million euros Porto paid Barcelona for Nico in the summer of 2023. After Nico Gonzalez's complicated transfer process, this is the final sum that will enter the Barcelona account will be an aid to their economic struggles.
