F1 2025: Top Female leaders making their mark in the Pinnacle of Motorsport

Formula 1 is bringing more women into the world of Motorsport by supporting women's empowerment. Many female icons are making their mark in F1.

Formula 1 has been a male-dominated sport since its debut in the 1950s. But in their 75-year history, many female icons left their mark on the pinnacle of sport. The Formula 1 team and the organisation are bringing more women into the sport as drivers, engineers, strategists, mechanics, social media, and many other roles. F1 is trying to be the hub of diversity and women's empowerment.

They have an F1 Academy only to bring talented Female drivers into the male-dominated sport. Many Women in F1 are super talented and skilled, so they deserve to be in the sport the same as men. Let's take a look at some of the top female leaders, making their mark in the 2025 Formula 1 season.

Hannah Smitz

The British race engineer is the principal strategy engineer for Red Bull. She is a popular figure in Formula 1 and was the biggest reason behind Red Bull’s success in the 2021, 2022, 2023, and 2024 seasons. She has a master's degree in mechanical engineering from the University of Cambridge. 

In 2022 she made the call at the last minute to start the race with soft tyres which was the biggest reason for Max Verstappen's victory in that race. He started from 10th on the grid and most of the teams went for the Hard tyres but Red Bull went for the softs and won the race.

Susie Wolff

She is the wife of Mercedes team principal Toto Wolff. Susie was also a Williams racing driver in 2014 and the first woman to race in F1 since Giovanna Amati raced in the 1992 season. In 2023 she became the managing director of the F1 Academy which was started for the Female race drivers in Formula 1. 

Angela Cullen

The New Zealand physiotherapist has already made her mark in F1 as she became the physio of the world champion Lewis Hamilton from 2016 to 2023. She has become an integral part of Hamilton's success in F1 by maintaining his fitness and health level. Angela is reunited with Lewis Hamilton for his new journey with Ferrari and we will again see the magic between the two great friends in Formula 1 this season.

Laura Mueller

The German engineer made history in Formula 1 by becoming the first-ever female race engineer in F1. She will be guiding Esteban Ocon in the Haas F1 team. Race engineers are the ones who guide drivers during races and convey messages. So this year we will hear the voice of Laura Mueller more often during races.

Doriane Pin

The 7-time world champion Lewis Hamilton acknowledged the driving of Doriane Pin last year. Hamilton even said if he ever had a Formula 1 team, Doriane Pin would be his Number 1 driver. The new Ferrari driver was very impressed by her talent and car handling. She is a Mercedes-supported driver driving for the Prema Racing Team. She finished second in the driver's championship last year and is retained by the team for the 2025 F1 Academy season.
