Manchester City star who earns £130,000 per week, arrested for mobile phone theft

Portuguese footballer and Manchester City Star, Matheus Nunes was reportedly arrested for stealing the phone of a person in the Spanish capital.

According to reports, the incident involved the player and another individual who allegedly attempted to take a photo of the player without his consent, leading to a confrontation.

The player was found in possession of the individual's phone, prompting police involvement. On another account what witnesses suggest is that the individual may have touched the player with the phone, leading to a misunderstanding of the player's reaction. The 25-year-old was briefly detained before being released on bail pending a trial.

According to other witnesses, the victim allegedly touched the player with the phone in his hand, leading the player to react angrily and mistakenly believe that his photo had been taken. The 25-year-old was imprisoned for a period before being released on bail and is currently awaiting trial.

What's ahead for Nunes?

Nunes is anticipated to go to trial for the incident but will remain with Manchester City for the interim period. The Portuguese player made an appearance in City's Tuesday night Champions League match against c and is expected to play again on Saturday as Pep Guardiola's team faces Fulham in the Premier League.

The 26-year-old recently made a significant impact for Man City, coming off the bench in their first match after the international break and playing the final minutes of their 2-1 win over Brentford.

Nunes secured his first start of the campaign in a 2-1 Carabao Cup victory over Watford last month, where he scored Man City’s second goal.

While he was an unused substitute in Man City’s last two Premier League matches against Arsenal and Newcastle, he played the full match in their 4-0 Champions League win over Slovan Bratislava on Tuesday night.
