Lionel Messi is arguably the greatest footballer of all time. The Argentina captain is currently with the national team practicing for the upcoming Copa America 2024. The 36-year-old footballer will be looking to defend the trophy in the USA which is set to begin from 21st June. This might be his final Copa America for the La Albiceleste as he will turn 40 in the upcoming tournament. He would like to finish his career on a high.

The forward ahead of the tournament has been giving interviews. He previously dropped a comment about his possible future at the Major League Soccer (MLS) club Inter Miami. The former FC Barcelona striker has left Europe after winning the FIFA World Cup 2022. The leading South American goal scorer enjoys his time in Miami, playing with his old friends, Luis Suarez, Jordi Alba and Sergio Busquets.

Kylian Mbappe and Messi were teammates during his time at Paris Saint-Germain. Previously the former believes that the UEFA Euro 2024 is the toughest tournament. However, Messi has denied the factor of the Euro being the toughest tournament in the world. The two had problems when Messi defeated France in the final of the World Cup 2022 after that he faced backlash at PSG.

The Euro Cup is very important: Lionel Messi

Messi speaking of the factor stated, "The Euro Cup is very important, but it leaves out Argentina, three-time world champion; Brazil, five-time world champion; Uruguay, two-time world champion. There are many world champions left out to say that the Euro Cup is the most difficult, right? In the World Cup, the best teams are there, and all the world champions are generally there. That’s why everyone wants to be a world champion."

Both the footballers have played at the biggest level and have tried to surpass themselves. With Messi winning the most prestigious trophy he has become the most decorated footballer of all time with no trophies left for him to win in personal or any team awards. Speaking about the 2026 World Cup he said he is yet to take a decision over the marquee tournament.
