Lionel Messi, the Argentine World Cup champion and football star, has announced that he would retire from Inter Miami, sharing his worries and ideas on life after sport. Messi's contract with Inter Miami expires at the end of 2025, signalling the likely conclusion of a remarkable career that has seen him win every major honour in the sport.

Despite remaining one of the world's best players, Lionel Messi recognised that the end of his career is near. In an exclusive interview with ESPN Argentina, the former Barcelona and Paris Saint-Germain great, who turns 37 later this month, discussed his feelings and aspirations.

According to India Today, "I'm not prepared to leave football," Messi told ESPN Argentina. "I did this all my life, I enjoy the trainings, the games. The fear that everything is going to be over, it's always there. I think Inter Miami is going to be my last club.

Messi's career has been nothing short of incredible. The Argentine icon has won the Champions League many times, won league crowns in Spain and France, and, most famously, led Argentina to a Copa America and a World Cup win. Messi's trophy cabinet is as magnificent, with multiple Ballon d'Or honours recognising him as the world's finest player.

Regardless of these ambiguities, Messi's legacy in football is well-established. He has inspired millions across the world with his talent, passion, and sportsmanship. His impact goes beyond the pitch, as he has become a symbol of greatness and endurance.

Inter Miami supporters had the opportunity to experience Messi's greatness firsthand, and they will appreciate the closing years of his career. While the idea of football without Messi is terrifying for many, his contributions to the game will go on for centuries.
