Pep Guardiola emphasized the importance of Kevin De Bruyne being honest with himself as he considers his future in the coming months. The Manchester City manager confirmed a report from Mail Sport, stating that De Bruyne, whose contract expires at the end of the season, will have the opportunity to determine his next steps following a decade with the club.
While he is considered one of the club's greatest players, the 33-year-old found himself on the bench during the match against Arsenal and remained unused in the game against Real Madrid last week.
Pep Guardiola urged Kevin De Bruyne to make a call on his future
His recent performance in the loss to Liverpool has sparked discussions about the demands of the Premier League and how they may be impacting his game.
"I think in that situation he has to decide; that is the most important thing," Guardiola said.
"He’s completely honest with himself to decide what he feels and what he can do in the next period of his life. He’s 34 in the summer and he has to decide, like what happened with David Silva for example." Pep added.
Pep Guardiola emphasized the importance of building a larger squad for next season, noting that this campaign began with only 20 outfield players.
Manchester City have been plagued with injuries in the current season. Ballon d'Or winner Rodri is in the final stages of his rehabilitation and is expected to join the team soon. Oscar Bobb is set to make his return shortly after experiencing a setback from a broken leg and a twisted ankle sustained during training. Furthermore, it's confirmed that Stones will not require surgery for his issue, but he is expected to be sidelined until May.
