This season took a drastic turn for Manchester City after their 6-3 defeat to Real Madrid on aggregate, leading to an early exit from the Champions League. With no European football and trailing 17 points behind league leaders Liverpool, the Sky Blues now have only domestic cup competitions to focus on.

This marks the third occasion in four campaigns that Manchester City has faced elimination from the Champions League at the hands of the Spanish giants. However, it’s important to note that this is the first time since Guardiola's arrival in 2016 that the English champions have not advanced to the last 16. Looking ahead to the Premier League, Guardiola is now focused on securing UEFA Champions League qualification.

Pep Guardiola wants to extend his stay at Etihad

When Guardiola signed a two-year extension with Manchester City in November, he likely had ambitious goals in mind for his team. He has consistently expressed his commitment to staying at the Etihad, and achieving his goals.

"I want to stay and continue at Manchester City. That’s my plan for sure," the former Bayern Munich manager told 'Movistar'.

“Am I convinced about that? Yes, yes, yes," Pep concluded.

However, Manchester City is also planning for the future. According to 'The Telegraph,' the club has given Guardiola the autonomy to make decisions regarding his future. They have assured him that they will fully support whatever choice he makes, even if it means stepping away from his current role.
