After becoming an overnight sensation, FC Barcelona's wonderkid Lamine Yamal is making appearances on Spanish television and has conversations on a variety of subjects. The youngster talked about how he hopes to play his entire career with the club and how he has been compared to Lionel Messi.

He spoke to El Hormiguero as he said, “I want to stay at Barça forever, I want to be a legend. I like to be compared to the best player in the history of football, but I want to be myself. Reaching Messi’s level is impossible.”

Naturally, when FC Barcelona was frequently linked to striker Nico Williams during the summer, Lamine was also questioned about his close friend. However, Yamal responded to a question concerning the possibility of playing with his close friend at FC Barcelona in a really tactful manner.

The UEFA Euro 2024 winner said, “I would like to play with him every week, hopefully, but he is now at Athletic.” It is believed that FC Barcelona will make another attempt to sign Nico in the summer. Although Yamal will only turn 17 this summer, he is already well on his way to becoming a legend at Barcelona.

Lamine also emphasised how La Masia trains youngsters to deal with possible stardom from an early age. He said, "At Barça, they guide you to stay on track, so you don’t lose your way in the future. They even provide psychologists. Since the Euros, I’ve noticed everyone seems happier."

He's the youngest player ever shortlisted for the Ballon d'Or thanks to his outstanding performance in the competition, but he's realistic about his chances. Yamal added, "We were in the elevator with Nico, and he was nominated first, then I was. Everyone congratulated us in the locker room, but I don’t think I have a shot at winning the Ballon d'Or."
