According to journalist Fabrizio Romano, all unpaid bonuses associated with Ousmane Dembele's move from Borussia Dortmund to FC Barcelona have already been paid in full.  It's interesting to note that Dortmund has now received an astounding €148 million in payments.

It should be mentioned that when Dembele was just 20 years old, Barcelona signed him in the summer of 2017. With possible add-ons totalling an additional €40 million, the initial fee for the transfer was €105 million. The €222 million FC Barcelona earned from Paris Saint-Germain upon the activation of Neymar's buyout clause was mostly used to finance the transaction.

Because of Dembele's inconsistency and injury history, the transfer was viewed for a number of years as one of Barcelona's worst decisions.  Though he cost FC Barcelona considerably more and didn't contribute as much on the pitch, Philippe Coutinho eventually took the title of most useless signing.

Neymar's exit contributed to the hefty cost Barcelona had to shell out for Dembele. Dortmund has increased their asking price after learning of Barcelona's recent financial windfall. Barcelona had first objected to spending €90 million on Dembele. They were compelled to accept a larger payment of €105 million in addition to other performance-based bonuses, though, once Neymar left.

What other add-ons were there in Ousmane Dembele’s contract?

A portion of these payments for bonuses were simple to fulfil. For example, FC Barcelona was required to provide €5 million for each UEFA Champions League qualification, a feat they accomplished twice while Dembele was a member of the team.

Borussia Dortmund was also entitled to €5 million each time Ousmane Dembele made 25 appearances for FC Barcelona, a requirement that resulted in several payouts. Now that Ousmane Dembele has left the team, almost a year later, FC Barcelona has paid off Borussia Dortmund's outstanding debt. This costly transfer's tale has finally been brought to an end with the club clearing all their dues for the move.
