The 16-year-old scored a magnificent 25-yard shot to help Spain beat France 2-1 and advance to the Euro 2024 final. Ahead of the semi-final, Rabiot attempted to get into the Barcelona wonderkid's mind by saying that he needed to do more to assist Spain get to the final.

Rabiot's effort to exert pressure on the 16-year-old prior to the EURO 2024 semifinals is when the story first surfaced. He conceded that the Barcelona player is brilliant, but the pressure would be something he has not encountered before.

As per Sportskeeda, "We saw that he was a player who knew how to handle pressure very well. He has a lot of qualities. He is capable of playing with his qualities at club level as well as in major tournaments, without pressure. "Afterwards, it is always complicated to manage a semi-final in a tournament like that, but it will be up to us to put the pressure on him above all, not to let him feel comfortable and to show him that to play in a Euro final, he will have to do much more than what he has done so far."

Lamine Yamal silencing critics

In reaction, Lamine Yamal turned to Instagram to share an image of a hand moving a chess piece, coupled with a cryptic message reading: "Move silently. Only talk when it is time to declare checkmate." With his incredible performance that eliminated France from the Euros, the 16-year-old did just that, and after the final whistle, there appeared to be a jab at Rabiot.

In terms of silencing his naysayers, Yamal answered admirably and demonstrated that he is well on his way to becoming one of football's most unforgettable talents. Despite not playing at their peak this summer, Spain and France advanced to the EURO 2024 semifinals. They are battling to compete on Sunday, July 14, in the final against either the Netherlands or England. The day before the final, on Saturday, is Yamal's 17th birthday.
