Barcelona faced a disappointing 1-0 loss against Real Sociedad in La Liga on Sunday, marking their second defeat of the season. The team was missing their young star, Lamine Yamal, who is currently out with an injury. The aftermath of the match saw the head coach Hansi Flick deliver a strong message to Spain’s Federation regarding the player's health.

Flick warns the Spanish Football Federation

Flick expressed confidence that the doctors will effectively manage the situation and engage with the Federation’s medical team. He emphasized that if Yamal was not on the field today, it was due to the lack of viable options. He expects everyone to accept this outcome and trusts that the Federation will make the right choice moving forward.

“The doctors will handle it; they will speak with the Federation’s medical team. I believe that if he didn’t play today, there weren’t any options. We have to accept it, and the Federation will make the right decision,” Flick said.

“I have also been in the Federation’s position. You have to accept it; they will make the right decision, I’m sure, because Lamine is very important to them as well, of course,” Flick added.

Lamine Yamal's Ankle issues

Prior to Barcelona's fixture against Real Sociedad, the club had confirmed that Yamal sustained a severe right ankle contusion during the last Champions League fixture. Despite the ongoing treatment, the discomfort remains, and his recovery will ultimately determine his availability for the match.

On Saturday, Flick made it clear that Lamine was engaged in specific strength training indoors. Given the high number of matches he has played recently, the decision was made to prioritize his well-being by allowing him to train separately.

This isn't the first time Yamal faced an injury concern with the Spain national team. Last time, he returned to the club slightly early after experiencing a minor muscle strain in Spain's 1-0 victory over Denmark.

Fortunately, Yamal participated fully and started in the following match against Sevilla without missing any games for Barcelona.

Spain will take on Denmark in Copenhagen on Friday, November 15, for Matchday 5 of the UEFA Nations League. Just four days later, they will host Switzerland in Tenerife on Monday, November 18.
