According to Fabrizio Romano, Chelsea has reached an agreement to sign back Joao Felix from Atletico Madrid under a six-year contract. Felix's second signing with Chelsea is the result of a deal between Atletico and Chelsea. During his loan spell at the Blues in 2019, the Portugal international made 20 appearances and scored four goals. The 24-year-old is anticipated to agree to a six-year contract alongside an added option for a further 12 months after the Blues and his agent finally worked out a permanent agreement.
Conor Gallagher may finally be able to move to Atletico thanks to the transaction. Samu Omorodion, a striker for Liga club, was up for purchase by Chelsea, but the negotiations broke down, leaving the midfield player unemployed. Gallagher's lengthy deal is still pending, but if Felix relocates to west London, he could be able to finalize his move to Spain.
Felix joined Atletico Madrid in 2019 for a sum of £113 million ($146 million), making 131 appearances overall. At one point, he was among the most expensive footballers in the world. In those matches, he recorded 34 goals and 18 assists.
Conor Gallagher finally set to depart Chelsea this summer
Chelsea looks set to finalize their tenth summertime permanent addition. Gallagher might be the eighth player they let go permanently after they allowed seven others to go. Following the breakdown of Chelsea's attempt to sign Atletico Madrid forward Samu Omorodion, Gallagher's deal to Atletico appeared to have fallen through.
Nevertheless, the English midfielder's recent five-day visit in Madrid thrilled the Spanish club, which further cemented their intention to include him in their lineup. As a result, they remained committed to signing the player. There were reports, prior to this transfer being confirmed, that Atletico Madrid was looking to sign a replacement for Gallagher. One way to come up with a backup plan was if Atletico Madrid had decided to rekindle their pursuit in Valencia ace Javi Guerra.
