Talks for Romelu Lukaku, a striker, have now resumed between Premier League team Chelsea and Serie A powerhouse Napoli. The Belgian kept wishing to join Napoli for some time, but Victor Osimhen's circumstances prevented it.
According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, negotiations between the two teams have resumed. Chelsea's stance remains unchanged; they would only consider a permanent move and would accept a price slightly below the €43 million release clause.
Although Napoli has so far offered €25 million with bonuses, it seems like movement is being made. Now that negotiations have resumed, additional action may occur. Napoli has to make progress while offering Antonio Conte whatever he wants after their defeat to Verona yesterday.
Lukaku had a great loan season in Italy last year, making 47 starts for AS Roma, scoring 21 goals in all competitions and dishing out four assists. The West London team's Premier League debut against defending champions Manchester City ended in a 2-0 loss, making it an unsatisfactory start to the season. They will now meet Servette in the first leg of the UEFA Europa Conference League playoffs.
Victor Osimhen set to join Chelsea?
Victor Osimhen's transfer would be handled differently, and Chelsea would still be interested in the Nigerian. Since Osimhen told Gli Azzurri that he wanted to leave the team this summer, the attacker has been linked to a transfer to Stamford Bridge for a considerable amount of time. Osimhen, who has 76 goals for the Italian club after joining the team in 2020, has only appeared in two games this season in an attempt to get a transfer.
Since the fall of 2022, Chelsea has been pursuing Victor Osimhen, despite Napoli’s persistent demands for a higher fee for the Nigerian international. Romelu Lukaku, who is currently a player for Chelsea, has been linked to Napoli in a deal that could still require the Blues to pay roughly £60 million to sign the forward.
