Aston Villa is among four clubs reportedly interested in a potential last-minute deal for Joao Felix, as stated by Fabrizio Romano.
As the January transfer window enters its final week, the Blues are anticipated to be active in the market.
Chelsea's has been quiet in this transfer window
Chelsea have taken measured steps in the transfer window, with Renato Veiga being the most notable departure after his loan move to Juventus. Meanwhile, the club has secured a deal with Strasbourg for 19-year-old Mamadou Sarr, who is set to join in the summer.
As the window approaches its close, Chelsea is actively exploring options for several players, including Ben Chilwell, Carney Chukwuemeka, and Axel Disasi, among others. The club is focused on finding the best solutions to optimise the squad for the upcoming season.
Chelsea is actively exploring the possibility of enhancing their attacking options. To facilitate this, it seems that either Christopher Nkunku or Felix may need to be transferred.
Earlier in the transfer window, Nkunku appeared to be the more likely candidate to leave, but recent reports indicate that the club is now open to offers for Felix as well.
Felix has faced problems in securing consistent playing time under Enzo Maresca, having started only three league matches so far. However, Maresca has highlighted Felix as a player who excites fans and makes attending the games worthwhile.
Despite this, the Portuguese forward has notched up seven goals this season. One obstacle he faces is the presence of Cole Palmer, who is likely to be a regular starter when fit. It would certainly be surprising if Felix were to leave the club after such a short stint of just six months, considering his potential and contributions.
Update from Fabrizio Romano
According to recent updates from Romano, there are currently four clubs expressing interest in pursuing a potential deal for the 25-year-old, which could create opportunities for Chelsea to strengthen their squad.
“Aston Villa, one of four clubs reaching out to João Félix’s agent Jorge Mendes to discuss potential last-minute deal," he wrote on X
“It all depends on Chelsea, as the formula of the deal is not easy to set for final days. Unai Emery remains clear; if there’s a chance, he wants João,” he added.
