Neymar Junior, the face of Brazilian football, recently shared his insights about his tenure with Paris Saint-Germain and his experiences with Kylian Mbappé during a podcast hosted by Romário.
Neymar revealed Mbappe was Jealous of Messi
Neymar highlighted Mbappé's initial reactions to Lionel Messi's arrival at the club, suggesting that it may have sparked a sense of 'jealousy' in Mbappé as he navigated the adjustment of sharing the spotlight with another global superstar. Neymar emphasized that the transition influenced Mbappe's behaviour and overall team dynamics.
Neymar also emphasized that the presence of big egos within the team hindered their performance in crucial matches. Neymar, however, didn't call out specific individuals.
“Mbappé was not annoying! When Messi came, I think he became a little jealous. I had my things with him, we had a little fight. He was a boy that in the beginning was key, I used to call him ‘Golden Boy’, I was spoke to him, played around with him, told him he’d be one of the best, I always help, always had conversations with him” Neymar said.
“When Leo arrived, he became a little jealous. He didn’t want to share me with anyone! [laughs] That’s how the fights started, the change in behaviour” Neymar added.
The trio firmly believed they would lead PSG to their first UEFA Champions League victory. Although they enjoyed success, claiming three trophies over two seasons, the ultimate goal continued to slip away. Neymar asserted that the individual ambitions of each superstar directly contributed to their failure to secure the UCL title.
Mbappe responded to Neymar's remarks
When the new Galacticos star was asked about Neymar's comments, he responded, asserting that he had no comment on the matter. Mbappe made it clear that he holds a great deal of respect for Neymar and chooses to focus on the positive memories they share.
“Neymar’s words? I have nothing to say. I’m focused on what I’m doing here in Madrid. I have a lot of respect for Neymar. I want to remember the good things about him, of a unique player in the history of football. Good luck to him & his family.” Mbappe said.
