Ruben Amorim’s response to Manchester United’s 3-0 defeat against Bournemouth at Old Trafford on Sunday was the only bright light in a dark day for Manchester United as they faced a humiliating home defeat.

Despite a slower start, the Portuguese manager observed his team's improved control in the first half. However, they found themselves trailing 1-0 due to a goal from a Bournemouth set-piece.

The Red Devils came out strong after halftime and looked determined to secure an equalizer. However, they quickly found themselves in deeper trouble, conceding two more goals due to critical errors. A penalty from Justin Kluivert, followed by a well-executed team goal from Antoine Semenyo, solidified a commanding 3-0 lead. Manchester United eventually went down with a three-goal deficit at Old Trafford.

Amorim on the loss and expectations ahead

“It’s hard to push for two, three wins and we are trying but this game was hard on us. Without conceding any [goals], we suffered again on set pieces. We were a little bit nervous, I felt it at the stadium. We controlled the rest of the first half but conceded. In the second half, we tried to score but in the end, it was a tough match in a tough situation so let’s move on.” Amorim said.

“In the end, you can see different things but if you look at the game, we were not conceding before the first goal then we had a lot of opportunities, If we managed to score one goal it should be different. In this moment everything is hard on us. The set pieces, the penalty, then we are too nervous, and we have to fight. ... We need to control better the game because we already know this game is going to be hard. We have to control these moments better,” he added.

"We have to work on the way we play. That’s all. Give them something to do. We have to focus on the job, the moment, not what you feel in the stadium. Just focus on what you have to do when the ball is in one place or other place. That’s all I have to do," he concluded.
