Journalist Florian Plettenberg reports that West Ham United has made a first bid to recruit Niclas Fullkrug, a striker for Borussia Dortmund. The Germans are keeping out for no less than £25 million, so there is still a valuation difference even though the Hammers' offer is worth about £21 million plus add-ons.

Borussia Dortmund is still debating the proposal. They are aware of Fullkrug's desire to join the Hammers, but they are holding out to see whether the team will enhance their offer. Although West Ham is hesitant to meet Dortmund's asking price, talks between the two teams are still ongoing, and a deal can be reached in the upcoming weeks.

The 31-year-old forward is prepared to sign a three-year contract with the option of a further year because he is eager to play for the Hammers. He may make about the same amount of money as Dortmund's present wage package.

According to reports, West Ham won't raise their asking price for the German international and may back out of the agreement if Dortmund demands more money. In an effort to expand his offensive options prior to the 2024–2025 season, Julen Lopetegui is eager to add a striker this summer.

Why does the German national team want Fullkrug to go to West Ham United?

The DFB provided advice to Borussia Dortmund attacker Niclas Füllkrug about his possible move to West Ham United, based on a report by Sky Sport reporter Florian Plettenberg. They advised him to transfer to West Ham, pointing out that he would have a better chance of being a striker for Germany at the 2026 World Cup if he played frequently in the Premier League.

Jhon Duran, the striker for Aston Villa, is still a target for West Ham, and should they be unable to finalize a deal for Fullkrug, they may pursue the Colombian striker once more. The German made 46 appearances for Dortmund in all competitions last season, scoring 16 goals and dishing out ten assists. Additionally, he scored twice for Germany in the UEFA Euro 2024.
