Just a few days before Barcelona's game Real Madrid and Atletico Madrid shared points as the game ended in a draw. This game opened the La Liga race for Barcelona ahead of the Sevilla match. However, after thrashing Sevilla 4-1 on Sunday, defender Inigo Martinez made a big statement in the La Liga title race. "If someone thought we were dead in La Liga... well, tell them that we're still very much alive." “This La Liga is fun. We have ambition and desire. We have shown that we are superior at all times,” he said.

The game saw Fermin Lopez getting a red card though it did not change the match result for Barcelona. Inigo Martinez also shared his view on teams mid-set. “Yes, we are in good shape. If we keep our defensive solidity and stability at the back, we know what our forwards are capable of. They are always a big threat. Even with 10 men, we stood strong, kept the ball, and created chances.”

Young players making impact for Barcelona

Robert Lewandowski scored the first goal in the game as Barcelona took the lead in the 7th minute against Sevilla. The lead lasted a minute as Ruben Vargas leveled the score.  As the second half started Barcelona came with a different plan. Fermin Lopez scored after the game started at halftime. Later Raphinha put the ball into the net and Eric Garica added the fourth goal of the night making sure the team got all three points. Once again, the young players made an impact for Barcelona.

Barcelona has got time to rest and work on their next game as there will be no UEFA Champions League game in mid-week as they qualified for round of 16. Barcelona will play their next La Liga game against Rayo Vallecano.
