Deportivo Alaves, currently positioned in 17th place in the Laliga standings, were looking to turn their season around and improve their performance.

Barcelona were positioned in the third place in the league table. Having faced challenges in the title race, the Catalans were eager to get back to the title race.

On the other hand, Deportivo Alaves had their fair share of difficulties this season and were already fighting for their survival after being positioned in the relegation zone.

Gavu's concussion and Lewandowski's goal were the standouts

In the ninth minute of the match, an unfortunate clash of heads occurred between Gavi and Conechny while they both fought for a header.

Both players appeared to be feeling the effects of the collision. Gavi managed to exit the pitch on his own accord, though he seemed a bit frustrated by the medical team's recommendation for him to come off.

Barcelona finally broke through Alaves defences in the 61st minute. After a corner was cleared, Pedri retrieved the ball on the left side and delivered a precise diagonal pass to the back post, targeting Lamine Yamal.

The young talent responded brilliantly with a first-time hooked volley, which took a slight deflection and perfectly set up Robert Lewandowski at the back post. The striker capitalized on the opportunity, expertly volleying the ball home from close range.

Barcelona asserted their dominance for the entirety of the game as they kept 77% possession. Barçelona also took 11 shots, 4 of which were on target. Alaves failed to keep any attempts on target as their attack appeared toothless. Barcelona held onto their narrow lead to win the fixture 1-0.
