'I knew....' - Manchester United star Antony asserts he is 'more' happy at Real Betis

Antony continued his promising start at Real Betis by scoring in their Europa Conference League match against Gent on Thursday night. The Brazilian made an impact by netting an impressive goal to put his team ahead early in the second half.

Receiving the ball just outside the 18-yard box on the right side, the 24-year-old manoeuvred past two defenders before delivering a precise left-footed shot that found the bottom left corner of the net.

The winger made a solid impact, tallying two goals and an assist in just his first three appearances for Los Verdiblancos. Manchester United fans on X, formerly Twitter, reacted to his performance with positive jabs, noting that he rarely showed this level of play during his tenure at Old Trafford.

After Antony netted an early strike in the second half, Betis secured their victory with goals from Cedric Bakambu and Sergi Altimira, dominating the match to finish 3-0. This commanding scoreline positions them well to  secure passage into the competition's round of 16. The second leg of the tie is set to take place at the Benito Villamarin next Thursday.

Antony's recent goal adds to the rumours surrounding his future, as Betis' CEO has shown a keen interest in solidifying his transfer permanently this summer. In a conversation with Cadena Ser's Radio Sevilla, CEO Ramon Alarcon mentioned that he envisions Antony as a valuable member of the team, potentially extending beyond the 2024-25 campaign.

Antony feels more happy at Real Betis 

While United invested a substantial amount to secure his transfer, pursuing a permanent move away is undoubtedly in the club's best interest as they aim to recover a portion of their initial expenditure.

“In my heart I knew that I would be very happy at Betis, I was sure about that. This win goes for the fans, they never stop supporting us,” Antony said.
