FC Barcelona has successfully completed their pursuit of the domestic treble this season, following their victory over Espanyol. The Catalan giants have secured their position at the top of the La Liga 2024-25 season.
Barcelona triumphed over Espanyol with a score of 2-0 at RCDE Stadium. The standout performer for the Catalans was their teenage prodigy, Lamine Yamal, who scored a brilliant goal and also provided an assist in the match.

Lamine Yamal was the centre of attention for everyone as he scored via a brilliant 53rd-minute strike to give his side a lead after the first half ended in a goalless stalemate. Yamal effortlessly curled the ball into the net from outside Espanyol's box with his strong left foot. The goalkeeper wasn't able to stop the shot despite giving his best efforts.
Lamine Yamal also drew a red card off Espanyol's defender Leandro Cabrera in the 80th minute. The defender had knowingly elbowed Yamal in an attempt to win a duel that had sent him rolling on the pitch.
In the last minutes of the match, Lamine Yamal even provided an inch-perfect assist to Fermin Lopez to put the final nails in the coffin for the home club.
During the fixture, Barcelona's goalkeeper Wojciech Szczesny also pulled off some good saves. Following the conclusion of the match, the Polish asserted that Lamine Yamal deserves to win the Ballon d'Or this season.
“I hope Lamine Yamal will win the Ballon d'Or.” Szczesny said after the match.
Lamine Yamal has been influential this season. At just 17 years old, the Spaniard had made 42 goal contributions this season. This includes 17 goals and 25 assists for Barcelona across club competitions.
