Despite going goalless in UEFA Euro 2024, Cristiano Ronaldo is projected to play until the 2026 FIFA World Cup. The Al Nassr star had a catastrophic 2022 FIFA World Cup campaign and is no longer playing in Europe.

Ronaldo's old teammate Rio Ferdinand provided an extensive update on the striker's professional future. Speaking on Rio Reacts, he stated, "I can't say too much, but I've been doing a few sections with Cristiano behind the scenes, and he can play for as long as he wants. He's not going anywhere. And I was stunned. And, listen, you'll see it in time, but I believe he'll play for at least another three years," as per Hindustan Times

Meanwhile, Portugal was knocked out of Euro 2024 after losing to France in a shootout in the quarterfinals. After his team's defeat, head coach Roberto Martinez provided an update on Ronaldo's future, saying, "It's too soon and raw after the match to talk about that, and there have been no individual decisions made." Following Portugal's departure, media sources suggested that Ronaldo hasn't chosen to retire yet and is likely to play for another two to three years.

Cristiano Ronaldo contract with Al Nassr enters last year

The former Real Madrid player has played in four World Cups and six European Championships for Portugal. With 130 goals for Portugal, he holds the record for most international goals ever. He has also earned the most caps for his nation. Portugal qualified for and won the 2004- and 2016 Euros finals with the attacker's assistance.

Cristiano Ronaldo scored eight goals at the 2022 World Cup in Qatar, making history as the only male player to score in five straight World Cups. Along with becoming the only player to score five goals in a row, he also made his debut at the 2004 Euros. He holds the record for the most tournament appearances. With no extension agreed upon as of yet, Ronaldo is entering the last year of his contract at Al-Nassr. For quite some time, there has been speculation about the famous frontman's potential return to Sporting, where he may end up where it all started.
