Kylian Mbappe is set to make his return to the France national team for the upcoming March internationals, as announced by Les Bleus manager Didier Deschamps. The 25-year-old forward, who has missed the last two call-ups, is poised to rejoin the squad. His prior decisions to step back from international duty sparked a significant discussion in the French media, particularly after he was spotted enjoying some downtime in Sweden while the team was competing in matches.
French journalist Romain Molina asserted that Kylian Mbappe had contemplated stepping away from international football due to the backlash he faced for missing national team commitments. However, the forward from Real Madrid firmly denied these claims, affirming his dedication to representing France.
“There is nothing more important than the national team, however, in September, I told the coach that I was not in the best condition. I changed clubs and had no days off. He insisted that I go on vacation," Mbappe said.
“In October, I was injured, and in November, I can’t say anything that was his decision. I wanted to play for France, but the coach didn’t call me. I’m sorry, I can’t tell you why. If he wants, he can say. But I can’t,” Mbappe added.
Deschamps reveals about Mbappe's return
When asked if Mbappé would be included in the upcoming squad, French manager Deschamps confirmed that he would definitely be part of it. When pressed about the forward's previous absences, Deschamps clarified that there were valid reasons for those decisions. He firmly stated that as long as Mbappé stays fit, he will be included in the team.
“Yes, for very specific reasons, But he will be there, if nothing happens to him between now and then. He is very attached to the French team, even if he has had a complicated personal period. He has found all his means and, inevitably, it shows in his game, and in his head too," Deschamps added.
