Tottenham Hotspur's manager, Ange Postecoglou, paid tribute to his father following Tottenham Hotspur's historic triumph over Manchester United. Tottenham Hotspur defeated Manchester United in the finals of the UEFA Europa League 2025.

Tottenham Hotspur's manager remembers his father after Europa League truimph
In the post-match media interview, Ange Postecoglou reflected on the presence of his late father, Jim, throughout his career. He paid a heartfelt tribute to Jim, who passed away in 2018 while Postecoglou was coaching at Yokohama F. Marinos in Japan. True to his promise of winning silverware in his second season, Postecoglou expressed his belief that his father was with him in spirit during the match in Spain.
The manager expressed his heartiest gratitude to all his family and friends. He got emotional while remembering his father and asserted that his spirit continues to inspire.
"Finally, to my beautiful wife, my boys, my family, my friends... You know, they're all my inspiration." Ange Postecoglou said.
"He's still with me, mate. His voice is in my head all the time. As I get older, I look in the mirror and see his face sometimes, which is frightening. He's with me all the time. My dear mum is in Greece with my sister and my nephews, I'm sure they're over the moon. It's massive in Australia and in Greece. I've got family in both countries, friends in both countries, and they've been along for the journey the whole way." Ange added.
Earlier, Tottenham Hotspur took the lead in the first half with a 42nd-minute strike from Brennan Johnson. Tottenham Hotspur then endured a barrage of attacks from Manchester United as they held onto their single-goal lead to bag their first silverware since 2008. The victory confirmed Tottenham Hotspur's participation in Europe's apex football event, UEFA Champions League next season.
