Ruben Amorim hasn't had the immediate effect on Manchester United's performance that supporters of the Red Devils had hoped for when the Portuguese coach was hired to succeed Erik ten Hag at Old Trafford. Though United hasn't exactly been bad—the team has achieved a few significant victories—the performances have been highly inconsistent.

Following a comeback victory over Southampton, Manchester United manager Ruben Amorim has cautioned the supporters that the Premier League team's wild season will go on. After defeating relegation-threatened Southampton 3-1 thanks to an incredible hat-trick from Amad Diallo, United resumed their winning ways in the Premier League.

With three games in eight days, Manchester United's schedule is now extremely tight. This was the team's first league victory in five games.  "I think it's going to be hard until the end of the season. It's going to be a little bit of that rollercoaster," Amorim told reporters on Friday.

After failing to score a goal in three league games before the Southampton victory, Amorim acknowledged that Manchester United's offensive is far from at its peak. We used to be a transitional squad, so I believe this is something that can be seen in the past. And we remain so," he continued.

Following a lackluster performance at Old Trafford on Thursday, the Portuguese boss defended Danish attacker Rasmus Hjlund. Hojlund, who has only managed to score two goals in the Premier League season, was brought on as a replacement for Joshua Zirkzee during the match against Southampton.

Manchester United defeated Arsenal earlier in the week in the FA Cup, winning on penalties after effectively handling the Gunners' threats. A few days later, though, Amorim's team was having trouble settling into their game against relegation-threatened Southampton at Old Trafford after Manuel Ugarte scored a late own goal in the first half.

Despite this, Manchester United managed to win three points as a hat-trick from Amad Diallo in the last ten minutes of the match gave Man United a win. Now, Amorim has given an update on the team’s inconsistent play. Manchester United returns to action on 19th January to face Brighton and the team will aim for a strong showing to make a comeback in the Premier League.
