In Saturday's FA Cup victory against Plymouth, the Dutch defender Nathan Ake started the game but was replaced by Ruben Dias for the second half. The player's long-term injury has been declared out of action, as manager Pep Guardiola subsequently confirmed. The 30-year-old will now spend more time on the sidelines after being substituted at halftime on Saturday. Due to a string of short-term injuries, Ake has only made 18 appearances this season.
Nathan Ake posted a photo from the hospital on Monday after he had successfully had surgery to treat his fractured foot. "This has been such a frustrating season for me but I have now had a successful surgery on a fracture in my foot that has been bothering me for months and I am looking forward to the future! Rest and recover now; see you soon, Cityzens, and thank you for your support."

Throughout the season, Ake has had many injuries that have kept him out of action for extended periods. Ake is just one of several injury issues Manchester City has had this season, which has seen them contend for a spot in the Premier League's top four, lose the Champions League before the round of 16, and look to the FA Cup for some respite.
